Sexual concern causing distress can be classified as a dysfunction and can be lifelong or begin at any age. It can be situational or constant. Sexual disorders can affect men and women and are classified into four categories: desire disorders, arousal disorders, orgasmic disorders, and sexual pain disorders.

Sexual Health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality. It is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction, or infirmity.

Infertility is the result of a disease (an interruption, cessation, or disorder of body functions, systems, or organs) of the male or female reproductive tract which prevents the conception of a child or the ability to carry a pregnancy to delivery. The duration of unprotected intercourse with failure to conceive should be about 12 months before an infertility evaluation is undertaken (6 months if female partner is over 35 years of age), unless medical history, age, or physical findings dictate earlier evaluation and treatment.
